Jena Sims, the spouse of renowned LIV Golf champion and five-time major victor Brooks Koepka, has shared sorrowful news regarding the loss of their unborn child. Sims, aged 36, revealed on Instagram that they tragically lost the baby when she was 16 weeks pregnant, as the baby’s heart had ceased beating.
The heartbreaking event has deeply impacted both Jena and Brooks, yet they aim to raise awareness about pregnancy loss for other affected couples. Sims expressed her grief, stating, “At 16 weeks, we learned that our baby’s heart had stopped beating. This is a grief no parent is ever prepared for. We are devastated, but remain hopeful to give Crew a sibling one day.”
She emphasized the need for more support and understanding for women’s reproductive health, highlighting the often silent struggles faced by those experiencing pregnancy loss or infertility. Sims also acknowledged the healthcare professionals who regularly deliver such devastating news, recognizing the emotional challenges they endure.
Her social media post garnered over 20,000 likes and 800 comments within the initial 19 hours, with notable figures like reporter Amanda Balionis and influencer Paige Spiranac offering their support. Sims, an actress and model, first met Brooks at the 2015 Masters, and the couple welcomed their son, Crew, in 2023 after getting married in 2022.
Brooks Koepka, reflecting on fatherhood, mentioned how his perspective on life, beyond golf, had shifted since becoming a parent. Despite facing challenges when Crew was born prematurely and required extensive medical care, Koepka praised his son and emphasized the profound impact fatherhood had on him.
In the recent LIV Golf season, Koepka achieved two top-10 finishes, with his best performance being a second-place finish in Singapore. However, he faced setbacks in major tournaments, missing the cut in three and finishing T12 in the US Open. In his latest competition, the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in Scotland, Koepka secured a T15 finish.
