“British Tourist Found Deceased After Month-Long Search in Greece”

Must read

A 55-year-old British tourist who went missing while hiking on the Greek island of Karpathos has been discovered deceased after more than a month of search efforts. The man, who was traveling solo on the island for the first time, was located on Saturday in the remote area of Epionia in the northern part of Karpathos.

The tourist was last seen taking photos on his phone in the fishing village of Diafani back in June. According to a local witness, he had asked for directions to Vroukounda via the Lahamitis path.

Emergency services were alerted when the man did not return to his accommodation as scheduled. Despite extensive search operations involving firefighters, police, coast guard, drones, sniffer dogs, and volunteers combing the area, no trace of him was found.

The remains of the man will be transported to the neighboring island of Rhodes for a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death.

In a separate incident earlier this month, another British tourist lost his life at the popular Greek holiday destination of Prasonisi, Rhodes. The 57-year-old man was discovered in the water around midday on Sunday, September 7, unresponsive and without a pulse. Efforts to revive him at the Gennadi Health Centre were unsuccessful, and he was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Authorities from the Lindos Port Authority have initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the man’s death, with an autopsy scheduled to establish the exact cause.
