A British tourist has tragically passed away following a cycling accident in Spain. The 57-year-old man, whose identity has not been disclosed, reportedly lost consciousness while cycling on the N-340 road near the town of Almunecar in Granada province. Almunecar is renowned for its beach and nature tourism attractions.

The incident occurred around 12:30 pm on November 6. Despite prompt intervention by emergency services, the cyclist could not be revived and was pronounced dead on-site, despite efforts by local authorities. The individual was staying at a hotel in Nerja, a town in the neighboring province of Malaga, about 12 miles away from the accident site.

Witnesses mentioned that the cyclist fell off his bike, attributing the incident to a health issue he experienced during physical activity. The Civil Guard is awaiting autopsy results to determine the cause of death, with no indications of foul play at this stage.

Reports indicate that the man was cycling with friends along Spain’s southern coast before the tragic incident. Resuscitation attempts lasted approximately 30 minutes, involving the use of a defibrillator by the police. Almunecar’s Security Councillor, Mari Carmen Martin Orce, expressed deep regret over the incident and extended condolences to the deceased’s loved ones.

The accident site is situated between Mateano Restaurant and Hotel California.
