British Airways is set to expand its transatlantic routes by introducing new non-stop flights from London to the United States in 2026. The upcoming route will link London Heathrow to St. Louis, a key city in Missouri situated in the heart of the Midwest.
Renowned for its iconic Gateway Arch and lively neighborhoods, British Airways views St. Louis as a versatile destination for all types of travelers. Flights to St. Louis are scheduled to commence on April 19, 2026, operating four times weekly during the summer months.
In response to the development, Neil Chernoff, British Airways’ Chief Planning and Strategy Officer, expressed enthusiasm, stating, “St. Louis is an excellent addition to our US network – it stands out as a destination with a rich history, vibrant cultural offerings, and serves as a gateway to other exciting locations.”
With St. Louis becoming the 27th American city serviced by British Airways, the airline asserts its position as the sole UK carrier offering direct flights to St. Louis. This launch coincides with the centenary celebration of Route 66, the renowned highway starting in Chicago, passing through St. Louis, and extending to Los Angeles.
In anticipation of the new service, British Airways highlighted St. Louis’s segment of the historic Route 66, featuring classic Americana attractions like retro diners, neon signs, and historic motels. Additionally, the city’s attractions include the expansive Forest Park, an array of free museums, and a thriving craft beer scene, catering to short getaways and extended explorations.
Moreover, St. Louis boasts a strong sports legacy with teams such as the St. Louis Cardinals, Blues, and City Soccer Club, recognized as the ‘Ultimate Sports City’ by ESPN The Magazine. Travelers to St. Louis can select from three cabin classes: World Traveller (economy), World Traveller Plus (premium economy), and Club World (business class), with return fares starting at £529 from October 1.
Furthermore, passengers flying in Club World can experience the airline’s latest business class seat, the Club Suite, featuring a private space with direct aisle access, a fully flat bed, and a 17-inch high-resolution entertainment screen. The dining experience in Club World offers a brasserie-style menu with freshly prepared starters, mains, desserts, and cheeses.
British Airways plans to resume its Miami flights twice daily next summer, introduce daily services to Dallas-Fort Worth, increase weekly flights to Las Vegas, and operate 14 flights weekly to San Diego and Austin. Furthermore, New York (JFK) flights will exclusively operate from London Heathrow, with nine daily flights, including a new service using the airline’s 777-200 fleet.
