A 13-year-old girl made a harrowing phone call to police after her father shot dead her mum and siblings.
Police with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office (JPSO) were alerted to a shooting at a home in River Ridge, a New Orleans suburb, in Louisiana, at about 4am local time on Saturday. Sheriff Joseph Lopinto said a 13-year-old girl called police, saying “her father shot her mother and also the siblings inside the residence.”
When officers arrived at the home, they found a woman and child dead in the hallway as well as two girls who were injured. Officers then found the father, later identified as 46-year-old Glenn Bohn Jr “in a back bedroom” at the property. He was in possession of a firearm and started to shoot at officers.
According to police, multiple deputies fired at the father “striking him multiple times.” Officers identified the deceased woman as Dung Pham, 40, and the slain toddler as Amy Bohne.
“The two wounded victims were transported to an area hospital where they are currently undergoing treatment,” Jeffrson Parish Sheriff’s Office said in a statement. “Our initial investigation indicates the suspect shot all of the victims inside the residence before being located and fatally wounded by deputies.”
JPSO sheriff Joseph Lopinto said Bohn Jr’s teen daughter phoned police saying “her father shot her mother and also the siblings inside the residence.” He told local outlet Fox8: “Our deputies arrived on scene and found a 40-year-old female along with a two-year-old child deceased in the hallway.”
Lopinto added the teen and a 9-year-old girl had been “both shot and wounded.” The younger surviving sibling is said to be in a critical condition while the teen is said to be stable after she was shot in the ankle.
The teen injured in the shooting was identified as eighth-grader Tier Bohne by Archbishop Chapelle High School on Instagram. Taking to the social media platform, the school wrote they are “deeply saddened by the tragic events that occurred this morning” as they offered their support to the victim and her family.
The sheriff added the children involved were all Bohn Jr’s biological children. He continued to tell the outlet: “Our initial investigation indicates the suspect shot all of the victims inside the residence.” The Mirror has contacted the JPSO for comment.
