Boxing Champion Ricky Hatton Found Deceased by Hanging

Must read

Boxing legend Ricky Hatton was discovered deceased by hanging, as revealed in an inquest today. Hatton, a two-time world champion in different weight classes, was found lifeless at his residence in Manchester by his manager and close companion Paul Speak last month. His funeral took place recently, attracting fans who lined the streets before a service at Manchester cathedral.

During the inquest this morning, coroner Alison Mutch informed the court that Hatton was found unresponsive in his bedroom by Mr. Speak, who was supposed to accompany the boxer to Dubai on the same day for a press conference announcing his return to the ring. The police coroner’s officer, Alison Catlow, mentioned that Hatton, who lived alone, was last seen by his family on September 12, appearing well. However, he failed to attend a scheduled event the following day, and was found unresponsive by Mr. Speak on September 14.

While a post-mortem examination has been conducted, the exact results are pending. The provisional cause of death was cited as ‘hanging’, with a full inquest scheduled for March 20. Mr. Speak expressed his belief that Hatton did not intend to take his own life, emphasizing that he had much to live for.

Hatton had openly discussed his struggles with addiction and suicidal thoughts in the past, but his family stated that he was in a positive state before his passing. His final social media posts depicted him training in the gym for an upcoming boxing match and sending a supportive message to a bullied child.

Following his death, mourners paid their respects during a memorial service at the Manchester cathedral, which was attended by various prominent figures in the boxing and sports community. Hatton’s legacy as a boxer, with 45 wins and three losses from 48 fights, was highlighted, along with his impact on mental health charities and the homeless community in Manchester.

Despite facing defeats in his career, including bouts against Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao, Hatton remained a beloved figure known for his down-to-earth personality. His journey from the highs of boxing success to the challenges of retirement was acknowledged by those who knew him best.
