David Malukas set the pace during the practice session at the Ontario Honda Dealers Indy in Markham, clocking in at 1:14.194 seconds in the second training session of the day. Following him, Alex Palou secured the second spot with a time of 1:14.560, and Dennis Hauger took the third position with a time of 1:14.592 on the Markham downtown road course.
Due to incomplete course construction and pending safety inspections, the organizers had to cancel the initial track sessions. This led to a delay in the qualifying rounds, which are now scheduled for the evening.
Markham is hosting the race for the first time this year, following its relocation from Toronto’s Exhibition Place, where it had been held since its inception in 1986. Palou had earlier topped the time charts in the morning’s first practice session, completing the course in 1:14.9915.
