Upon checking into what could easily be dubbed the ‘UK’s most luxurious Premier Inn’, my expectations were exceeded even before reaching my designated room. Premier Inn, the UK’s leading hotel chain boasting over 85,000 rooms across 800 locations nationwide, is recognized for its affordable yet comfortable accommodations, signature crisp white beds, and unforgettable Lenny Henry commercials.
Expanding their offerings to cater to a wider audience, Premier Inn introduced Zip by Premier Inn and hub by Premier, providing cost-effective options with smaller but cozy rooms. Despite its recent opening in February, one hub in particular has gained a reputation as the ‘UK’s poshest Premier Inn’. Situated within a former Victorian Old Bailey in central London, this hub’s chic design rivals that of high-end boutique hotels.
Navigating the vast array of lodging options in London can be overwhelming, but the hub by Premier Inn London Farringdon (Old Bailey) caught my attention with its prime location in a bustling area of central London, offering both convenience and vibrancy. Housed in the historic Snow Hill Police Station, a Grade II-listed building from the 1870s, this hub seamlessly blends original Victorian architecture with modern interiors, ensuring a distinctive and economical stay starting at £75 per night.
The hotel’s standout feature was the elegant white-tiled staircase, complemented by lofty ceilings, arched windows, and a concrete floor that exuded a sense of antiquity. Every corner resonated with the building’s rich history, yet the contemporary reception area reminded me that I was indeed in a hotel.
Adjacent to the reception desk, a communal lounge beckoned guests to relax amidst stylish sofas and armchairs under an ornate white ceiling. The space was cleverly divided with a metal shelf adorned with colorful suitcases and plants, creating a cozy ambiance akin to a home away from home.
The hotel also boasts a bar serving refreshing beverages and a dining area where breakfast is served. I even indulged in a late-night pizza from their menu, making my stay even more enjoyable.
My standard room, equipped with a double bed and en-suite facilities, maximized its 11sqm space efficiently. Storage options under the bed, a pull-out drawer, a small desk area, and a built-in wardrobe without doors showcased the room’s smart design. The glass-door bathroom with green tiles further exemplified the room’s utilization of space.
Positioned against the wall, the double bed was accentuated by a funky London map decor and neatly rolled duvet, emphasizing simplicity and functionality. A small bedside shelf with plug sockets provided convenience for charging personal devices.
With electronically controlled lighting and air conditioning, the room offered a seamless and comfortable experience. The hub by Premier Inn London Farringdon (Old Bailey) proved to be an ideal choice for a night in London, demonstrating that comfort can be achieved without compromising on affordability.
