Previously, Harry declined an offer to stay at Buckingham Palace due to security concerns arising from the palace’s high-profile status. The specific royal residence offered to Harry and Meghan for their upcoming stay remains undisclosed. This visit marks their first family trip to the UK in four years, with the duke being assured of appropriate security measures for the trip.
According to reports, the Sussexes, accompanied by their children Archie and Lilibet, have yet to respond to the accommodation offer. The children last saw their grandfather, the King, during Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in 2022, and it is uncertain if the King will meet his youngest grandchildren during their visit.
The couple’s return to the UK is connected to the upcoming Invictus Games in Birmingham, with celebrations marking the one-year countdown to the event. Harry, who last met with Charles in September after a prolonged period, expressed hopes for reconciliation in a BBC interview following a court battle over security arrangements during his UK visits.
Having stepped back from the working monarchy in 2020, Harry has made various public statements and accusations against his family members since relocating to the US. These include claims of tension with Charles, disagreements with the King’s parenting, and ongoing estrangement from his brother, Prince William.
