A statement from the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) detailed the circumstances of Menzies’ health scare and confirmed that he was able to return to his accommodation after being evaluated by medical staff.
Menzies, ranked 27th globally, was leading his match before the incident occurred. With his inability to continue, Smith advanced to the quarterfinals alongside other competitors like Gian van Veen, James Wade, and Gerwyn Price.
In other matches, Price staged a remarkable comeback to defeat Rob Cross, setting up a quarterfinal clash with Smith. Van Veen secured his spot in the next round by defeating Wessel Nijman, while Wade overcame Ryan Searle to progress to face Van Veen.
