Kyren Wilson, a snooker player, faced a burglary at his residence while competing at the Championship League Snooker event. Despite securing a 3-0 win in his match against Haydon Pinhey, Wilson was unaware that his house was being targeted during the event at the Mattioli Arena.
Upon discovering the burglary, Wilson opted to withdraw from the tournament. The former snooker world champion expressed his distress as luxury watches, jewelry, and cash reserved for a charitable cause were stolen from his home.
In a social media statement, Wilson detailed the incident, mentioning the specific items taken, including valuable watches like Cartier and Audemars Piguet, along with a ladies’ Rolex and a sentimental necklace. The stolen cash, earmarked for a children’s cancer charity donation, added to the emotional impact of the theft for Wilson and his family.
Wilson urged anyone with information on the burglary or the stolen items to come forward to aid the ongoing investigation. He also requested assistance in sharing the post to help in the recovery process.
As a consequence of Wilson’s withdrawal from the competition, Pinhey, Dylan Emery, and Michal Szubarczyk received walkovers. Wilson’s next competitive appearance is scheduled for the Shanghai Masters starting on July 27.
In a separate event, Wilson is set to participate in a charity exhibition in October, organized by TWSportsManagement’s Taylor Wilson, to raise funds for the BeMoreFab charity. Alongside other snooker professionals, Wilson expressed his pride in supporting the charity and emphasized the importance of contributing to the cause.
