Must read

Emma Raducanu praised her mental clarity after an impressive performance in the first round of the LTA’s HSBC Championships. The 2021 US Open winner swiftly defeated Anna Blinkova 6-0 6-3 in just one hour at Queen’s, overcoming a rain delay.

Despite the brief interruption by the weather, Raducanu showcased top form on the Andy Murray Arena, marking her first victory since March’s Indian Wells Open. She expressed satisfaction with her play style, feeling relaxed and focused, attributing her success to a natural and clear mindset.

Reunited with coach Andrew Richardson, who guided her to victory at Flushing Meadows, Raducanu started strongly by quickly gaining a 3-0 lead after breaking Blinkova. Despite the rain delay, she resumed play with determination, dominating her opponent with a powerful forehand to claim the first set in just 20 minutes.

While Blinkova staged a brief comeback to level the second set at 3-3, Raducanu regained control, winning the last three games with a stylish backhand winner down the line. The British No.1 expressed her love for playing on grass and the joy of competing on home turf in front of supportive fans.
