Guests often overlook a crucial aspect that can significantly impact their vacation experience, something I’ve witnessed time and again.

Working as a front desk receptionist at a hotel, I’ve handled a wide array of requests and inquiries, playing multiple roles from managing bookings to assisting with special arrangements like marriage proposals.

Despite our willingness to accommodate various unusual requests, there was one recurring issue that guests consistently overlooked.

Our hotel featured two dining options: a casual pub serving hearty meals and a more upscale restaurant with an à la carte menu. However, many guests failed to grasp the importance of making reservations for these establishments during their stay, despite receiving numerous reminders via email.

It was not uncommon for guests to arrive without dinner reservations, only to be disappointed when both restaurants were fully booked for the weekend. This lack of foresight often led to frustration and misplaced blame on the hotel staff for the unavailability of tables.

Contrary to popular belief, having a room reservation does not automatically guarantee dining reservations at hotel restaurants. These establishments operate similarly to regular restaurants and are open to the public, requiring advance booking to secure preferred dining times.

To avoid disappointment, guests are urged to plan ahead and book dining reservations well in advance, especially for peak dining hours or popular meal times.

Despite frequent email reminders, many guests continued to arrive without reservations, assuming they could dine at their convenience. This oversight not only inconvenienced guests but also created challenges for the hotel staff.

The importance of planning ahead extends beyond dining reservations to spa treatments as well. Even guests on spa packages must proactively schedule their treatment times, particularly during busy periods like weekends.

Ensuring reservations for dining and spa services enhances the overall guest experience, preventing disappointments during what should be a relaxing and enjoyable stay.
