Millions of Gmail users are in for a significant update as Google introduces the option to change email addresses. This new feature allows users to modify their Google Account username, the part before @gmail.com, used for various services like Gmail, Photos, and Drive. The original email address will still function alongside the new one, ensuring no messages are missed by users.
Google assures that existing data in accounts, such as photos, messages, and emails, will remain unaffected by the change. Although this update is currently only available in the US, users in the UK will have to wait for its rollout in their region.
For those in the US, Google advises navigating to the Google account settings, selecting personal info, and then email followed by Google account email. If the option to change the Google account email is visible, users can proceed to select a new and unique username. The original email address will be retained as an alternate address. Users are reminded that only one new address can be created every 12 months.
To check if the update has reached their account, users are encouraged to review their settings promptly. For more news updates, consider setting Daily Mirror as a ‘Preferred Source’ on Google News for easy access to valued news content.
