“Russian Attacks on Ukraine Trigger Chaos and Peace Deal Prospects”

Must read

Russian military commanders executed an attack on Ukraine overnight, launching nearly 500 bombs that resulted in the deaths of six individuals. Simultaneously, reports indicated that Ukraine might have agreed to a significant peace deal brokered by the United States and Russia. The assault triggered chaos and fireballs in Kyiv, prompting Romanian fighter jets to scramble urgently and multiple airspace violations in Moldova.

The onslaught caused fires in apartment blocks and widespread infrastructure damage across Ukraine. A missile, bearing a wartime “Z” marking, accidentally crashed into a residence in Moldova. Additionally, six lethal Russian drones breached Moldova’s airspace in one of the most severe violations since Russia’s full-scale invasion began.

A total of 22 missiles and 460 drones were deployed, forcing Ukrainians to seek shelter and disrupting essential services like water, electricity, and heating in parts of the capital. The Moldovan Defence Ministry issued a warning urging citizens to report any foreign objects seen and avoid touching fallen debris.

Incursions into Romanian airspace were recorded, with drones crossing over from Vylkove, Ukraine, toward the Kilia Veche region. Romania promptly scrambled F-16 Fighting Falcon jets and issued alerts in response to the airspace violations. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky highlighted the incursions into Moldova and Romania by Russian drones, emphasizing the importance of saving lives and maintaining pressure through sanctions.

During the attacks, casualties were reported in various districts of Kyiv, with fatalities and injuries in residential and non-residential buildings. Amid hopes for a peace plan, European leaders aimed to reduce concessions made in the Trump-Putin peace deal to align more closely with Moscow’s objectives.

US President Donald Trump’s shifting stance, seemingly favoring Moscow, led to criticism of Ukraine’s response to the conflict. He proposed a 28-point plan that many believe aligns with Russian interests, including terms that Ukraine is unlikely to accept due to the sacrifices it has endured.

This complex situation underscores the ongoing diplomatic efforts and the challenges faced by Ukraine in navigating the demands of global powers amidst the conflict.
