Terror police in Madrid have used a Taser and fired at an 18-year-old attacker who allegedly stabbed three individuals during a frightening street assault.

The young assailant also reportedly tried to assault law enforcement officers while reciting passages from the Quran.

The alarming incident took place in the Puente de Vallecas district on Saturday before the suspect escaped and barricaded himself in an apartment, leading to a police standoff.

He was transported to Gregorio Maranon Hospital in the Spanish capital, where he was reportedly being monitored by police this morning. Witnesses informed authorities that he was carrying a small two-inch knife.

An elderly woman is said to have sustained neck injuries, while two men, one with severe chest wounds, were also harmed.

The suspect’s sibling allegedly contacted the police, reporting that he was inside the residence with a knife, behaving aggressively.

Authorities categorized the event as an “Islamist terrorist occurrence” and dispatched officers from a specialized unit for demonstrations and counter-terrorism operations to secure the area.

The unnamed 18-year-old was Tasered twice upon entry by officers but was subsequently shot four times after attempting to attack them. A statement expressed support for the officers who intervened to subdue a radicalized young man responsible for the attacks on three individuals.

The victims of the stabbings received medical treatment, with none of their injuries deemed life-threatening.
