“Slender Man Attacker Captured After Bracelet Escape”

Must read

Morgan Geyser, known for the ‘Slender Man’ knife attack, was apprehended after removing her electronic monitoring bracelet and fleeing her residence. She was found at a truck stop in Posen, Illinois, following a 24-hour search that involved multiple states and caused concern for her victim’s family. Geyser and another individual were taken into custody after arriving in the area by bus, with Posen located around 25 minutes south of Chicago.

Authorities located Geyser at the truck stop after she was last seen in Madison with an adult companion. Surveillance footage showed her in a public building, leading to numerous tips that aided in the search escalation. Both Geyser and the other person were detained without incident at the truck stop in Posen.

Geyser’s disappearance was reported on Sunday morning, prompting a swift response from local and state law enforcement. Prior to her apprehension, Geyser’s mother made a public appeal for her daughter to surrender, emphasizing their love and concern for her safety.

Geyser, who had been released to supervised care in March, was mandated to wear an electronic bracelet, which she removed prior to her disappearance. She and her childhood friend, Anissa Weier, infamously lured their classmate into the woods in 2014, resulting in a brutal attack that garnered widespread media attention and sparked discussions about online mythologies and mental health in youth.

Geyser and Weier were initially charged as adults but later found not guilty by reason of mental illness, leading to their commitment to psychiatric care. Geyser’s recent escape raised concerns about her interactions and activities outside the facility, prompting a renewed focus on her treatment and supervision.

The victim’s family confirmed their awareness of Geyser’s escape and expressed gratitude for the law enforcement efforts to locate her. They emphasized their ongoing collaboration with authorities to ensure their safety and well-being.

Now an adult, the victim of the 2014 attack has spoken about her journey to recovery and acceptance of the scars from the traumatic incident. Authorities are investigating Geyser’s escape route, assistance she may have received, and the possibility of additional charges related to her removal of the electronic monitoring device.

It remains unclear whether Geyser will remain in custody in Illinois or be transferred back to Wisconsin for further legal proceedings.
