Defence Minister Al Carns highlighted the dangerous and reckless actions of Russian forces attempting to disrupt surveillance of the Yantar, a vessel linked to the Kremlin’s deep-sea research program, which has been spotted in British waters multiple times this year.
Carns emphasized Russia’s development of military capabilities to threaten underwater infrastructure, posing a significant risk to the economy and way of life. RAF personnel aboard a P-8 patrol aircraft encountered a laser aimed at them during monitoring, necessitating continuous tracking by the Royal Navy frigate HMS Somerset and RAF’s P8s.
