“Russia Strikes Ukraine, Targets Civilians in Devastating Assault”

Must read

Russia initiated a series of devastating attacks across Ukraine, including a pre-dawn strike using drones and guided bombs. The retaliatory assault targeted civilian structures and infrastructure in regions such as Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv, Odesa, Dnipro, and Sumy.

The strikes caused significant damage to residential buildings, schools, and infrastructure. In Zaporizhzhia, Russian troops attacked, shattering windows in apartment buildings and a kindergarten, as reported by regional governor Ivan Fedorov.

Casualty figures remain unknown at this time. Fedorov stated, “As a result of the Russian attack, windows were shattered in residential buildings and a kindergarten in one of the city’s districts.”

Residents and workers sought shelter as air raid warnings alerted Zaporizhzhia of an incoming guided bomb. Fortunately, there were no reported casualties, and utility workers promptly began addressing the aftermath of the attack.

In Kharkiv, the city of Chuhuiv faced a significant drone attack early Friday, with over ten strike drones targeting the area. Mayor Halyna Minaieva described the situation, stating, “Our city once again became the enemy’s target, with more than ten drones directed at Chuhuiv. A civilian enterprise and an educational institution were impacted, resulting in a significant fire at the strike sites.”

This attack followed Ukraine’s strategic hits on Russia earlier in the week, focusing on energy plants and oil refineries. Through drone strikes orchestrated by Kyiv’s “Deep Strike” special forces unit, one of Russia’s largest oil refineries, the Volgorod Oil Refinery, was severely damaged, along with a major power complex in Moscow.

The Kyiv military’s objective is to disrupt Russia’s oil exports, a crucial source of funding for President Vladimir Putin’s war efforts in Ukraine. By targeting Russia’s energy infrastructure, Ukraine aims to pressure Moscow to cease hostilities and engage in peace negotiations.

Additionally, Ukraine’s Atesh partisan movement disclosed that one of their operatives within Russia’s 115th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade sabotaged a unit truck to prevent deployment to the critical city of Pokrovsk in Ukraine’s Donetsk region.

The ongoing conflict has seen intensified border missile exchanges between Ukraine and Russia, with Kyiv striving to undermine Moscow’s financial support for Putin’s war and the Kremlin attempting to wear down Ukrainian civilians by targeting energy facilities.

Despite Ukraine’s efforts to defend itself, challenges persist due to inconsistent support from US President Donald Trump, who has vacillated in backing Kyiv and at times expressed sympathy towards Putin while criticizing Ukrainian President Zelensky.

Kyiv has repeatedly appealed for additional air defense units to counter the daily attacks by Russian forces, many of which are suspected of deliberately targeting hospitals and schools.
