“Trump Faces Deadline on Epstein Files Disclosure Bill”

Must read

Donald Trump has a ten-day window to approve the bill mandating the disclosure of the Epstein files following its passage by Congress late last night. Initially opposed to the release, Trump exerted pressure on House members to distance themselves from the petition advocating for it.

However, he altered his stance earlier this week, indicating his support for House Republicans to pass the measure, which stipulates the files must be made accessible in a searchable format within 30 days. Trump’s stance is that he is indifferent to the release of the files, citing that Jeffrey Epstein’s associates were predominantly Democrats.

Asserting his intention to sign the bill upon receiving it, he stated yesterday: “We have no association with Epstein. The Democrats do. All of his associates were Democrats.” He emphasized, “Let the Senate review it. Let anyone review it. But refrain from extensive discussion, as it essentially pertains to a Democrat issue. Epstein’s circle consisted of Democrats, and it’s a sham. The entire matter is a sham, and I don’t want to detract from the remarkable accomplishments of the Republican Party in recent times.”

The implication is that Trump could not possibly feature in the files since he identifies as a Republican. Nevertheless, a minor flaw exists in this argument.

Donald Trump maintained a friendship with Jeffrey Epstein from the late 80s until around 2007 when he claims to have barred the infamous pedophile from his Mar A Lago club in Palm Beach, Florida. Besides being Epstein’s friend, Trump was also affiliated with the Democratic Party for most of that period.

During the period encompassing the Justice Department’s inquiry and the Epstein files, which covers the years 2002-2005 as per Epstein’s federal indictment, Donald Trump was both a friend of Epstein and a registered Democrat from August 2001 to September 2009.
