“£160 Million New El-Alamein City Rivaling European Destinations”

Must read

A cutting-edge city project worth £160 million is taking shape along the Mediterranean coast of Egypt, aiming to rival popular European holiday destinations such as Spain, Italy, and Greece.

New El-Alamein City, dubbed the new hub of the Egyptian Riviera, is set to become a premier year-round seaside spot with pristine white beaches, clear waters, and pleasant average temperatures reaching around 24°C in November.

Strategically situated in the Marsa Matruh governorate, approximately 60 kilometers from the Alexandria–Matrouh international highway, the city spans nearly 49,000 feddans (about 200 million square meters), with plans to accommodate close to three million residents upon completion.

The first phase of the initiative, already in progress, includes housing for approximately 400,000 individuals. The city’s layout integrates residential, cultural, tourist, industrial, and research sectors, offering a comprehensive urban experience.

Key features of the development comprise upscale hotels, luxury resorts, a private university, and dedicated structures for governmental use. Infrastructure enhancements, such as water treatment facilities, sewage systems, and advanced electricity grids, are being overseen jointly by Egypt’s Urban Communities Authority and the Armed Forces Engineering Authority.

New El-Alamein City will be segmented into tourism, historical, and residential districts, providing a range of accommodations from high-end resorts to family-oriented residences and modern apartments. The seafront will host an expansive international promenade lined with eateries, shops, and entertainment venues, culminating at the City of Culture and Arts complex, showcasing a theatre, opera house, cinema, and production studios.

The project aims to alleviate population density in Cairo while promoting sustainable living through smart transportation networks and renewable energy solutions. Over 30 developers have secured permits to construct more than 30,000 hotel rooms in the initial phase of construction.

Hailed as a transformative project for the Mediterranean region, New El-Alamein seeks to elevate Egypt’s northern coastline to the status of a premier destination, offering sun-soaked luxury and contemporary living just a short distance from the UK.
