An avalanche in the Alps has claimed the lives of three tourists, while two others are currently missing. The tragic incident occurred on the rocky Cima Vertana in the Ortles Mountain range, triggered at approximately 4pm in the South Tyrol region of Italy.
Efforts are underway to locate the two missing individuals from the group of five ski mountaineers. Search operations involve a helicopter rescue team and firefighters.
The avalanche swept away a 30-year-old man and woman, along with a 50-year-old man, while they were engaged in climbing activities. Their bodies were later recovered by rescue personnel.
Reports suggest that the avalanche occurred suddenly, trapping two climbers under debris and causing minor injuries. The search and rescue mission continues in the area.
