“Fatal Stabbing: Woman Killed by Ex-Boyfriend Despite Ankle Monitor”

Must read

A woman aged 33 was fatally stabbed by her former boyfriend after he removed the ankle monitor designed to prevent him from getting close to her. Jessica Stappazzollo Custodio de Lima was attacked at the residence of her ex-partner, Douglas Reis Pedroso, in Castelnuovo del Garda, Italy. The incident occurred between October 27 and October 28, resulting in Jessica being stabbed 27 times, with fatal chest wounds causing her death from haemorrhagic shock.

Reports indicate that Douglas Reis Pedroso, a Brazilian national, confessed to the murder during police interrogation. It was revealed that he had tampered with the ankle monitor that was meant to keep him away from Jessica, leading to questions about the effectiveness of the surveillance system in such high-risk cases. Pedroso, who had a history of violence towards Jessica, had previously been arrested for assaulting her and was ordered to stay at least 500 meters away from her.

Following the tragic incident, Pedroso contacted the authorities, expressing his intention to commit suicide. When the police arrived at his location, they discovered Jessica’s lifeless body inside the house. Subsequent investigations found evidence of drug use in Pedroso’s home, including cocaine and alcohol. Pedroso was apprehended in Valeggio sul Mincio and later confessed to the crime, claiming he was under the influence of drugs during the attack.

Jessica’s family members expressed their outrage at the failure to prevent the tragedy, citing previous reports to the police about Pedroso’s abusive behavior. They highlighted the need for stronger measures to protect victims of domestic violence. Law enforcement officials are now reviewing the case to ensure justice for Jessica and to prevent similar incidents in the future.
