Must read

In a recently resurfaced clip, Wes Streeting expressed his belief in becoming the Prime Minister someday during an interview in 2018. The Health Secretary, who refuted allegations of planning a coup against Keir Starmer, humorously responded with “I think probably me” when asked about the future PM on comedian Matt Forde’s Unspun series.

Other politicians like Paul Sweeney, Preet Kaur Gill, Rupa Huq, and John Woodcock had predicted Jeremy Corbyn, while Tory Tim Loughton suggested Kemi Badenoch. The resurgence of the clip coincided with Streeting denying any involvement in a coup against Starmer amidst growing speculations over the PM’s fate.

Streeting criticized comments attributing him to a coup plot and emphasized unity within the government. He emphasized his support for the Prime Minister and compared the internal strife to an episode of Celebrity Traitors, backing Starmer’s leadership.

During a parliamentary session, Starmer commended Streeting for his efforts in reducing NHS waiting lists. Streeting’s achievements of surpassing expectations by delivering five million additional appointments under the Labour government were highlighted.

The ongoing turmoil was addressed as Streeting questioned the toxic culture in Downing Street, prompting Starmer to emphasize his dedication to rebuilding the country and condemn attacks on his cabinet members. Overall, the political landscape remains turbulent as factions within the government navigate through internal conflicts.
