“Trump Booed at Football Game, Eyes Stadium Name Deal”

Must read

Donald Trump faced a hostile reception from a crowd of American football fans over the weekend. Attending the game alongside Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth and House Speaker Mike Johnson to mark Veterans Day, the US President was met with boos, jeers, and obscene gestures from the attendees.

The game took place at Northwest Stadium on the outskirts of DC, where the Washington Commanders played against the Detroit Lions. The liberal-leaning crowd in DC, known for its support of Kamala Harris and including many government workers affected by past shutdowns, expressed their disapproval of Trump by openly booing and displaying offensive gestures towards him.

Despite the negative reception, Trump became the first sitting President in over 50 years to attend a regular NFL game. During a broadcast interview with Fox Sports, he hinted at involvement in the Commanders’ plans for a new stadium in the city, a project estimated at $3.7 billion set to open in 2030, with Trump reportedly pushing for the stadium to bear his name.

A senior White House official revealed that Trump has directly expressed his desire for the stadium to be named after him to an investor in the ownership group. The official suggested that the naming could likely happen as per the President’s wishes. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt supported the idea, emphasizing that Trump’s efforts facilitated the rebuilding of the new stadium.
