A teenager was allegedly threatened with eight words before being soaked in gasoline and ignited.

Nineteen-year-old Jacob Thompson is currently undergoing medical treatment in a hospital after sustaining burns on approximately 32% of his body in what is believed to be a deliberate attack. The incident, which occurred on October 13, left Jacob with severe third-degree burns on his face, torso, arms, back, and legs.

Prior to the assault, police reported that Aaron Valette, also 19, brandished a plastic bottle containing a clear liquid and issued a warning to Jacob, stating, “If you approach me, I will set you on fire.” Subsequently, Valette allegedly poured the liquid on Jacob before setting him ablaze. Prompt action from bystanders helped extinguish the flames at the scene in Coonabarabran, Australia.

Following the attack, Jacob was swiftly transported to a medical facility for urgent care. Authorities have indicated that the incident was linked to an ongoing dispute between two local families.

Valette has been charged with causing serious harm to another person with intent and creating a public disturbance. Another individual, 45-year-old Mavis Chatfield, has also been charged with public disturbance, with both being denied bail.

In a statement to The Daily Telegraph, Jacob’s family expressed deep trauma over the violent assault, which they witnessed. They described the past weeks as extremely challenging, with Jacob enduring intense pain and receiving medication to alleviate discomfort.

Despite initially being on life support, Jacob has shown slight improvements, although he continues to experience breathing difficulties. The family emphasized Jacob’s emotional resilience and positive attitude in coping with the aftermath of the incident.

Jacob is currently receiving treatment at Concord Hospital, with his family providing constant support by his side. Concerns for their safety have led the family to relocate from their previous residence in the small town.

To aid Jacob and his family, a GoFundMe campaign has been launched. The fundraiser highlights the severity of Jacob’s injuries, his need for ongoing medical care, and the emotional toll on his loved ones, calling for support during his challenging journey towards recovery and relocation to a secure environment.
