In the secluded Dark Entry Forest of Cornwall, Connecticut lies the eerie ghost town of Dudleytown, known for its mysterious past and rumored curse akin to the storyline of the unsettling 1999 film, The Blair Witch Project.
Dudleytown was established in the 1740s by Thomas Griffis and later inhabited by several Dudley family members, but over time, it dwindled as residents left for new horizons.
The town’s descent into darkness began with the arrival of Nathaniel Carter, whose family succumbed to cholera, followed by tragic deaths and unexplained occurrences, including a barn builder’s mysterious demise and a lightning strike that left a husband bereft.
By 1900, Dudleytown was deserted, believed by some to be cursed due to a historical beheading in the Dudley lineage. In the 1990s, the area fell victim to vandalism exacerbated by the portrayal of haunted villages in popular media like The Blair Witch Project, attracting thrill-seekers and ghost hunters.
Reputed as a real-life Village of the Damned, Dudleytown is associated with tales of paranormal activity, misfortune, and insanity. To deter trespassing, the land’s current owners have restricted access, making it illegal to visit Dudleytown, now deemed private property.
