Sarah Hartsfield and her spouse Joseph’s one-year marriage was showing signs of trouble. Hartsfield confided in friends about Joseph being a “nightmare,” hinting at a possible breakup, while Joseph expressed his desire to end the relationship to family members.
As Hartsfield’s fifth marriage, it seemed she was on the path to another separation, given her history of divorces and tragedies. Her previous relationships had ended relatively quickly, including her engagement to David Bragg shortly after splitting from her third husband, Christopher Donohue.
On May 9, 2018, a tragic incident occurred when Hartsfield called 911, reporting a heated dispute with David, resulting in his death. Despite the circumstances surrounding the incident, no legal actions were taken against Hartsfield, and the incident was deemed an act of self-defense.
Fast forward to 2021, Hartsfield married David George after her previous relationships ended. However, her ex-husband Christopher raised concerns about her intentions, alleging a plot to harm David. Eventually, Hartsfield and David parted ways. Subsequently, Hartsfield met Joseph online, a nature enthusiast with a jovial personality, and they tied the knot in February 2022.
Tragedy struck on January 7, 2023, when Hartsfield contacted emergency services reporting Joseph’s critical condition due to low blood sugar levels. Joseph was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to the condition a week later. Suspicion arose when excessive insulin was found in Joseph’s system, leading to an investigation into his death.
Following investigations, Hartsfield’s questionable actions and past relationships raised red flags. She was charged with first-degree murder in connection to Joseph’s death, denying the allegations. During the trial, details of Hartsfield’s troubled history emerged, shedding light on her tumultuous relationships and past incidents, including the demise of her former partners.
In October of the same year, Hartsfield was convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to life imprisonment with the possibility of parole after 30 years. The prosecution characterized Joseph as another victim ensnared in Hartsfield’s web, as investigations into the case involving David Bragg were reopened.
