Donald Trump expressed sympathy for the Royal Family after Prince Andrew was stripped of his titles. During a press briefing on Air Force One, the US president commented on the King’s decision to revoke his brother’s peerages due to new revelations about his ties to Jeffrey Epstein.
Trump described the situation as a tragedy, stating, “I feel badly for the family.” The King’s brother lost his Prince and Duke of York titles and other royal privileges following the posthumous release of a memoir by Virginia Giuffre, who accused Andrew of sexual misconduct. Despite his denial of the allegations, a settlement was reached for approximately £12 million.
Giuffre, who passed away recently, alleged that she was trafficked by Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell as a teenager and forced to engage in sexual activities with Andrew. Trump, who had a past association with Epstein, faced scrutiny for downplaying their relationship after Epstein’s death.
Giuffre’s brother urged Trump to follow the King’s lead by releasing legal documents related to Epstein. Trump had maintained a friendship with Epstein for years and had been photographed with Prince Andrew. Epstein once claimed to be Trump’s closest friend until they reportedly had a falling out over staff matters.
Despite mounting pressure for the release of Epstein files, Trump dismissed the issue as a “Democrat hoax” and emphasized that the focus should be on the nation’s success during his presidency.
