A mother of four was fatally shot by her former boyfriend, who had an unhealthy obsession with her, leaving her injured in a shopping mall parking lot. Savannah Kulla, 29, was tragically discovered deceased outside a retail center after her ex-partner, Anthony Deschepper, 38, allegedly abandoned her there. Deschepper had abducted Savannah and their one-year-old child before she was located in Brampton, Ontario, Canada, on Tuesday afternoon, according to authorities. Upon receiving an alert, law enforcement quickly located the child safe with relatives, who informed them that Deschepper had left the child with them. Subsequently, the police initiated a manhunt for Savannah’s ex-partner.
Local law enforcement and Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit apprehended Deschepper at a gas station in Niagara Falls around 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday following a press release by authorities. Deschepper was fatally shot by a police officer during an encounter, and despite efforts by paramedics, he was pronounced dead at the scene. A post-mortem examination is scheduled for today.
Upon inspection of the scene, a firearm was discovered, although there was no evidence that Deschepper had discharged it. A woman associated with Deschepper, whose name and relationship remain undisclosed, was located at the scene and taken into custody. Allegedly, this woman was driving the vehicle that Deschepper had been in prior to his apprehension.
Savannah’s grieving mother, Karen, revealed that her daughter had recently ended her relationship with Deschepper. In an interview with CityNews Everywhere, Karen expressed her daughter’s concerns about Deschepper’s obsessive behavior and how she had tried to distance herself from him. Karen described herself as distraught since her daughter’s tragic passing, highlighting Savannah’s dedication to her children.
Confirming that Savannah and Deschepper shared a one-year-old child, Karen mentioned that her three sons are currently under the care of their father, Savannah’s previous partner. She expressed relief that Deschepper was no longer a threat to the children. A GoFundMe campaign was initiated by one of Savannah’s childhood friends to support her children, emphasizing Savannah’s love for her kids and her irreplaceable role in their lives.
This tragic incident has left Savannah’s children without their mother’s love and care, compelling her family to ensure that the children receive the support and affection Savannah would have provided daily.
