Truck collision tragedy claims lives of pregnant woman & family

A tragic accident involving six vehicles, including a truck, has resulted in the loss of a pregnant woman and seven of her family members. The truck driver involved in the collision has been charged in connection with the incident.

Although the identities of the victims have not been officially confirmed, the mother-to-be has been identified as Kenia Ramirez. She was three months pregnant at the time of the crash, along with Darwin Ventura and their child, Kayle. Tragically, Kenia’s mother and four children, Justin, Andy, Natali, and Evan, also lost their lives in the devastating accident.

The collision, which led to a chain reaction involving four other vehicles, occurred on Interstate 85 in Jackson County, approximately 62 miles northeast of Atlanta. The Dodge van carrying the family caught fire, resulting in the deaths of everyone inside.

The truck driver, Kane Aaron Hammock, 33, faces multiple charges, including eight counts of vehicular homicide in the second degree and one count of feticide by a vehicle in the second degree. Additionally, he has been charged with following too closely, operating a vehicle without a current plate, and distracted driving.

In the aftermath of the tragedy, devastated family members have set up an online fundraiser to assist with funeral expenses. The fundraiser reflects on the profound loss and expresses hope that the departed souls are now at peace.

Furthermore, the accident also involved a van transporting 37 cats to a shelter in Vermont. One of the cats was taken to a vet in critical condition, while two remain missing. The incident has left a deep impact on the community, with volunteers and witnesses grappling with the heartbreaking aftermath.
