A man who contaminated food at a steakhouse where he was employed with his urine, feet, and genitals has been sentenced to 11 years and four months in prison. Jace Christian Hanson, aged 22, pleaded guilty to 22 counts of criminal threat, one count of criminal damage, and 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a child and possession of child pornography. The incident occurred at the Hereford House restaurant in Leawood, Kansas, leading to Hanson’s arrest in April 2024.
Hanson’s actions came to light when someone reported him to the FBI for posting videos online showing him spitting, stomping on food, and rubbing it on his body while on duty at the restaurant. He confessed to using apps like Grindr, where he claimed men requested specific food-related videos from him.
Despite working at the restaurant for less than a month in April the previous year, Hanson admitted to contaminating food more than 20 times. Initially charged with one count of felony food contamination, he faced additional charges in June 2024. In July of the same year, he pleaded guilty to a total of 33 charges against him.
An FBI investigation revealed disturbing videos where Hanson urinated in bins, pressed food against his private areas, and engaged in other unsanitary acts. Moreover, the investigation uncovered videos depicting child sexual abuse and disturbing messages expressing Hanson’s intent to commit such crimes.
During the sentencing, Judge Thomas Kelly Ryan labeled Hanson a “future danger” to the community, highlighting the severity of his actions. The closure of the Hereford House restaurant followed multiple reported cases of illness among patrons, leading to financial strains and eventual shutdown in August 2024.
Expressing remorse, Hanson apologized to his co-workers, customers, and family, acknowledging the harm caused. He received the maximum sentence of 136 months in prison for his crimes.
