“Zelensky Exposes Allied Parts in Russian Missiles”

Must read

Russian President Volodymyr Zelensky revealed that British microcomputers and over 100,000 foreign-made parts were discovered in the Russian missiles and drones used in the recent attacks on Ukraine.

Zelensky called for more stringent sanctions against Russia, highlighting that components from allied nations like Germany, Japan, and the US were also found in the weapons.

The Department for Business and Trade (DBT) spokesperson emphasized efforts to curb UK businesses supplying products to Russian weaponry, noting the government’s ban on exporting various goods to Russia.

Non-compliance with sanctions could lead to significant financial penalties or criminal charges, with over £20bn ($26.9bn) worth of UK business with Russia now sanctioned.

Zelensky emphasized the importance of shutting down any schemes bypassing sanctions and mentioned that Ukraine’s allies possess detailed information on companies and products still being used by Russia.

Other countries, including China, Taiwan, and the Netherlands, were identified as sources of components found in Russian weapons.

Despite facing extensive sanctions post Putin’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Russia’s economy has shown resilience, with increased military spending offsetting job losses from sanctioned industries and finding new energy export markets in China and India.

In a tragic incident, 549 missiles and drones were launched by Russia, resulting in the death of four family members in the village of Lapaivka, including a 15-year-old girl.
