As Halloween approaches, a sense of spookiness fills the air. Whether you believe in ghosts, have a fascination with the paranormal, or suspect your home is haunted, the question arises – does your city top the list of the UK’s most haunted cities?
Tarot reading platform Tarotoo has conducted a thorough analysis of various eerie factors, including the abundance of cemeteries, graves, reported ghost sightings, vacant properties, and homes aged over a century.
According to Tarotoo’s findings, the title of the spookiest city in the UK goes to Bradford. Located in West Yorkshire, Bradford boasts a staggering 143 cemeteries and over 255,000 grave sites. Additionally, the city features 3,284 unoccupied houses and 66,080 properties that have stood for more than a hundred years – a perfect setting for ghostly encounters.
Bradford is home to several notorious haunted locations, such as Paper Hall, a historic Grade II listed building dating back to 1643. Reports from Paper Hall include sightings of eerie large eyes peering out of windows, along with mysterious footsteps on staircases during the night, despite no visible presence.
Locals have speculated that the ghostly footsteps belong to a peg-legged old sailor, indicated by the distinct tapping sound pattern. There are also rumors circulating about an admiral meeting a tragic fate within the house.
Another haunted site in Bradford is the Bradford City Hall, constructed in 1843, where the underground cells once served as police holding areas. Legend has it that the spirit of a former prisoner named Charlie still wanders the halls seeking retribution for past mistreatment.
Parkside Social Club, previously an institute and schoolroom, is another hotspot for ghostly sightings in Bradford. Visitors have reported seeing a young girl dressed in Victorian attire playfully running around the premises in a ghostly manner.
Bolling Hall, recognized as Bradford’s oldest residence, has a rich history of paranormal activity, with over 20 documented sightings over the years. Strange occurrences include a mysteriously rocking child’s crib and sightings of a lady in white gliding back and forth before vanishing into a fireplace.
Bradford emerges as a city steeped in ghostly tales and eerie encounters, making it a prime destination for those intrigued by the supernatural.
