“Bulgaria Floods Claim 3 Lives, Seaside Resort Devastated”

Must read

Holidaymakers planning trips to a European Union destination have been cautioned about dangerous floods that have claimed the lives of three individuals. Bulgaria, specifically the seaside resort of Burgas Province, has been severely affected by devastating flooding. Startling videos circulating online depict the widespread destruction caused by the floods in several villages along the Black Sea coast in southeastern Bulgaria, leading to a declaration of a state of emergency.

Minister Daniel Mitov confirmed the tragic deaths, explaining that one person died in a building basement after being overwhelmed by water, while the other two fatalities were rescuers responding to emergency calls. Search efforts by emergency services have been intensified to locate missing persons, with the Navy called in to offer assistance.

The catastrophic floods have resulted in the loss of vehicles and caravans being swept away into the sea, with some individuals feared to have been lost forever. Defence Minister Atanas Zapryanov assured readiness to provide additional support if requested by the Ministry of Interior.

To aid those affected in flooded areas, the military has dispatched two boats with rescue teams. The region is bracing for heavy rainfall in the coming day, prompting the deployment of over 10 fire trucks in the broader Black Sea region, including Elenite, to aid residents, as reported by Bulgaria’s NOVA TV.

Footage capturing the deluge in Elenite, with water inundating streets and partially submerging a car, underscores the severity of the situation. Meanwhile, other popular European destinations like Ibiza, Formentera, and Valencia in Spain have also faced flooding due to torrential rains, prompting a red weather alert for travelers.

Holidaymakers have been advised to exercise caution as inclement weather conditions persist across various regions, affecting transportation hubs like Ibiza airport. Greece, particularly beloved spots like Corfu, Oiniades, and Aitoliko in Aitoloakarnania, has also encountered flooding issues, leaving some residents stranded in their homes due to rising waters.
