A woman is warning against undergoing dental procedures in Turkey after a nightmarish experience left her with a disease and a damaged nose. Leanne Abeyance is struggling with constant pain in her mouth and nose, finding it difficult to breathe. This situation arose after she contracted a flesh-eating virus following a dental treatment in Turkey.
Leanne, a 41-year-old from Telford, underwent dental work that resulted in a collapsed septum and dental implants that could not be removed due to infections. Despite spending over £3,000 initially on treatment, she had to spend an additional £2,000 on private procedures to alleviate the pain.
Contrary to popular belief that veneers offer a lifelong solution, Leanne’s experience with ‘Turkey Teeth’ in 2009 turned into a nightmare. A veneer fell out during an outing, prompting a visit to a clinic in Turkey for further treatment.
Following scans revealing weak gums, Leanne underwent complex procedures, including a bone graft and sinus lift. However, post the removal of all her teeth, she sensed something was amiss. Subsequently, she encountered excruciating pain during the process, leading to numerous complications.
Leanne shared her ordeal on social media, highlighting the agony she endured during the dental procedures. She faced multiple hospitalizations and medical appointments due to severe pain, sinusitis, and nose bleeds. Eventually, X-rays revealed that the implants were affecting her nose, leading to the removal of temporary teeth and the diagnosis of a severe infection.
Struggling to find medical help, Leanne is now seeking assistance from a private surgeon to address the complications and infections resulting from the botched dental work in Turkey. She has set up a fundraising page to cover the costs of corrective surgery as she faces financial challenges and health deterioration.
Leanne’s story serves as a cautionary tale about the risks associated with undergoing dental treatments abroad. She emphasizes the importance of thorough research and the potential consequences of opting for cosmetic procedures in other countries.
