Russia has issued a warning concerning a potential move by Donald Trump to supply Ukraine with long-range Tomahawk missiles, stating that such action could lead to the Kremlin declaring nuclear war against the United States and Britain.
Recent intelligence indicates that the US is gearing up to provide Kyiv with advanced targeting data to target Russia’s energy networks, while also urging NATO allies to do the same. Additionally, there are considerations to supply Tomahawk and Barracuda missiles to enable deep incursions into Russian territory, seen as a response to Russia rejecting peace efforts from Trump.
The identified targets would enhance Ukraine’s ongoing successful strikes on Russian refineries, pipelines, power stations, and other critical infrastructure to disrupt Putin’s oil supplies and revenues.
Military expert Colonel Igor Korotchenko, editor-in-chief of Russia’s ‘National Defence’ journal, highlighted the Tomahawk missile, with a range of approximately 1,500 miles, as a potential trigger for a global conflict. He emphasized that such strikes would likely require US or British military involvement to target sites within Russia, which could escalate tensions significantly.
Colonel Korotchenko emphasized the precision and dual-purpose nature of the Tomahawk missile, suggesting that transferring such weapons to Ukraine could lead to war between the UK or the US and Russia. He warned that Russia would be compelled to respond forcefully to such actions.
While there is no indication that the Tomahawks would be nuclear-equipped, Colonel Korotchenko underscored that Russia is prepared to react decisively to any perceived threats.
