Israeli Forces Continue Gaza Operation, 21 Palestinian Deaths

Must read

Israeli forces have continued their military operation in Gaza, resulting in the deaths of at least 21 Palestinians amid a deadline for Hamas to agree to a U.S.-backed ceasefire. The casualties include individuals harmed in an attack on a school serving as a refuge for war victims. The Al-Falah school in Gaza City was struck twice within minutes, injuring and killing several people. Tragically, first responders were among those killed in subsequent attacks. Additionally, multiple strikes in different locations within Gaza City, including refugee camps, resulted in more casualties. The situation escalated further when sirens went off near the Gaza Strip, alerting nearby communities of incoming projectiles from Gaza into Israel. Meanwhile, a maritime standoff ensued as a fleet of activists led by Greta Thunberg attempted to break through Israel’s blockade of Gaza.

The proposed 20-point peace plan, endorsed by Egypt and Qatar, involves complex negotiations and conditions, including demands for Hamas to release hostages, relinquish power in Gaza, and disarm in exchange for the release of Palestinian prisoners and cessation of hostilities. The plan also emphasizes the provision of humanitarian aid and reconstruction efforts in Gaza under international oversight. Amidst these developments, a separate incident involving a fleet of boats carrying activists and aid for Gaza faced interception by Israeli forces, resulting in arrests, including that of journalist Kieran Andrieu. The intercepted vessels, part of the Global Sumud Flotilla, were reportedly subdued by the Israeli Navy, leading to disruptions in communication and ongoing interception operations. The situation highlights the ongoing conflict in the region, with significant casualties on both sides and international efforts to broker peace and provide aid to the affected population.
