Must read

Ricky Hatton’s longtime manager discovered the body of the renowned boxer at his residence, as revealed today. Paul Speak, who also served as Hatton’s trusted associate, has been commended for his actions following the sad revelation on Sunday. He entered the Hyde, Greater Manchester, home of the boxing legend after Hatton, aged 46, did not attend a boxing event on Saturday evening.

According to boxing commentator Steve Bunce, Speak shared details about Friday and Saturday nights, disclosing Hatton’s absence at the boxing show. Speak, who has had a 25-year professional and personal relationship with Hatton as his business manager and confidant, was the one who found his dear friend and the people’s champion.

Hatton’s family paid tribute to their “beloved son Richard,” expressing gratitude for the outpouring of support. Meanwhile, former boxer Stacey Copeland, a close friend of Hatton, reminisced about their last encounter at Hatton’s gym on Thursday during a special program on BBC Five Live.

Born in Stockport, Greater Manchester, Hatton was scheduled to travel to Dubai to finalize a fight contract against Eisa Al Dah in December, as mentioned by Copeland. She recalled a lighthearted moment with Hatton discussing his elbow discomfort, indicating the suddenness of his passing.

The Greater Manchester Police confirmed Hatton’s passing at his Hyde residence on Sunday, ruling out any suspicious circumstances. Tributes for the former world welterweight champion have poured in from various sectors. Hatton’s family emphasized his personal qualities beyond his boxing success, describing him as a loving family member and loyal friend with a generous spirit.

The family statement also acknowledged Hatton’s legacy as a boxing icon who exemplified dedication in the ring and authenticity outside of it.
