Sky has unveiled a significant update for its Sky Q boxes, ensuring that customers with these devices are not left behind in the streaming landscape dominated by Sky’s latest offerings like Glass and Stream. The U app, which was initially available on Sky Glass and Stream, is now making its way to Sky Q, providing access to a variety of on-demand services such as U&Dave, U&DRAMA, U&W, U&YESTERDAY, and U&Eden.
With the U app on Sky Q, users can enjoy popular shows like The Marlow Murder Club, Outrageous, Bergerac, Pete Wicks: For Dogs’ Sake, Stacey Dooley Sleeps Over, The Chelsea Detective, Ladies in Black, and The Count of Monte Cristo. The app also features a user-friendly interface that allows for easy show discovery through specific categories and a Watchlists section for saving content to watch later.
Formerly known as UKTV, U underwent a significant transformation last July to consolidate channels like Dave, Yesterday, and Drama. Sky Q users can now access the U app without the need for any device updates or restarts.
Sam Tewungwa, Managing Director of UKTV, expressed enthusiasm for expanding U to Sky Q, citing its growth in views, reach, and content quality. Jon Simkin, Managing Director of Content Partnerships at Sky, highlighted the enhanced partnership with UKTV, giving customers more flexibility in their TV viewing experience on Sky platforms.
