A chaotic food altercation erupted at a McDonald’s outlet following a mix-up with a customer’s order. Video footage and images of the incident circulated on Instagram, garnering over 81,000 likes after tensions flared on January 20. In the video, a woman aggressively throws her drink at McDonald’s staff, prompting them to retaliate by hurling drinks, fries, burgers, and ice cream in her direction. Amidst the chaos, a bystander tries to restrain the woman, but she persists in her aggressive behavior. One staff member even splashes a milkshake on her coat. Onlookers at the McDonald’s appeared amused at first, chatting and laughing, but as the situation escalated, more individuals joined in. A staff member toppled a bin over one man, while another was drenched in Coca Cola. The food fight eventually subsided when a holder of straws was overturned, scattering straws across the counter and floor. This incident took place at a branch in Amsterdam, sparking over 2,000 comments on the post.
Commenting on the event, Leroy remarked, “These employees seem to have found an unconventional team-building exercise.” Zouf quipped, “I’m sure the employees had a blast engaging in a food fight at work.” Meanwhile, Alexandros humorously observed, “That little guy tossing a trash can bigger than himself and swiftly retreating—definitely someone’s little brother.” Another individual humorously remarked, “I thought this kind of chaos only occurred in the U.S.,” while a user joked, “Maybe the Happy Meal was missing its toy.”
In a separate incident last year, the manager of a McDonald’s branch was left unconscious and injured following an assault triggered by a dispute over a burger. Witnesses described a scene of chaos as customers fled the eatery amidst flying trays, stools, food bags, and physical altercations. Some junior staff members had to escape through the drive-thru window to avoid the turmoil.
During the court proceedings at Swansea Crown Court, Huw Jones, his adult sons Sam Jones and Kiayer Jones, and son-in-law Thomas Hamilton were admonished for their unruly behavior, described as “hooliganism” and going “berserk.” The judge from WalesOnline criticized their actions, stating they should feel “wholly ashamed” of their conduct.
The court heard that the incident occurred on the evening of November 4, 2023, at a McDonald’s outlet in Baglan, near Port Talbot in South Wales. The restaurant was bustling with customers at the time, including many children. The altercation began when Thomas Hamilton visited the restaurant with his sister-in-law to address a burger order discrepancy. Hamilton’s aggressive demeanor led to a heated confrontation, during which he reportedly pushed his sister-in-law aside.
