“Captain Tom’s Family Faces Financial Setback”

Must read

Captain Sir Tom Moore’s family has encountered a new setback as recent financial records revealed a significant decline in his daughter’s company, Club Nook. The firm, managed by Hannah Ingram-Moore and her husband Colin, has experienced a sharp drop in asset value to £149 from £336,300 in the past year. Club Nook was established to oversee Captain Tom’s business endeavors and intellectual property.

Accounts up to April 2024 indicate that the company owes creditors £67,000, with net liabilities of £19,246 compared to being in the black by £106,104 in the previous year. This financial setback follows a series of challenges for the family, including reducing the price of their estate by £250,000 and facing scrutiny over the management of Captain Tom’s charity funds.

Hannah previously disclosed that £800,000 in profits from her father’s books were directed to Club Nook. However, discrepancies arose regarding whether the proceeds were intended for charity, as indicated by the prologue of Captain Tom’s autobiography. The latest financial disclosures emerged shortly after the family revised the estate’s listing, removing any reference to Captain Tom and his charitable activities.

In addition, the Ingram-Moores were criticized for benefiting financially from the charity they established in Captain Tom’s name, with the Charity Commission citing governance and integrity issues. Despite raising substantial funds during the pandemic, discrepancies were found in the allocation of proceeds from Captain Tom’s autobiography. The commission’s investigation highlighted the Ingram-Moores’ failure to ensure that the charity benefitted from book sales, leading to public misperceptions.

The report further revealed instances where the family used the foundation’s name for personal gain, including a planning application that raised ethical concerns. The Ingram-Moores, now prohibited from serving as charity trustees, expressed dissatisfaction with the inquiry’s impact on their reputation and ability to uphold Captain Sir Tom’s legacy.
