EastEnders fans believe they’ve figured out how Reiss Colwell will make his exit from Albert Square after reports emerged that actor Jonny Freeman has wrapped up filming his final scenes.
Freeman, who has portrayed the sinister killer since 2022, is reportedly set to leave the BBC One soap later this year.
The Daily Mail claims that cast members, including Natalie Cassidy, Aaliyah James, and Charlie Suff, attended his farewell party at The Wellington Pub in Borehamwood over the weekend.
Given the current storyline involving Sonia Fowler’s trial for the murder of Reiss’ wife Debbie, which Reiss actually committed, fans speculate about his impending departure.
After pictures of a car crashed into the Queen Vic pub surfaced online, viewers are convinced that Reiss will meet his demise during the soap’s 40th-anniversary celebration next month.
One fan took to X, formerly Twitter, and wrote: “Reiss Colwell takes his own life in shock suicide plot during 40th Anniversary week has his lies about Debbie’s death and holding bianca captive in his lock up storage warehouse FINALLY get exposed.”
Fans are speculating a dramatic exit for a beloved character, with one viewer suggesting: “Guessing he’s one of the victims of the Queen Vic fire next month.. as his car was crashed into the debris of the vic.. so I assume he gets trapped and dies..”
Another added their theory, saying: “Bianca is in the back seat and she tries to stop Reiss by distracting him, and as the Cafe explodes at the same time Reiss crashes his car into the Vic at the same time.”, reports the Manchester Evening News.
It has been confirmed that a live episode will take place during the 40th anniversary week where viewers will have a say on the outcome of one storyline. Fans will get to pick if Denise Fox (Diane Parish) ends up back with ex-husband Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) or toyboy lover Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara).
EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One and available to stream on BBC iPlayer from 6am
